The weather was mixed today, with some sunshine and some rain. There are roses in bloom in my garden.

Things are going very slowly. It was a partially rainy day. The cuckoo birds were calling constantly the entire time I was outside this evening.

It rained lightly all day long. The slugs and snails and plants loved it.

It was a wet, chilly, cloudy day. I went for a walk through the apple and plum orchards. There are always so many details to be seen there.

close up of leaves on the ground. brown crunchy leaves sit on top of vibrant green leaves. some are covered in dew.

ground level close up of leaves. leaves are shades of green and brown. dew drops sit on many, including a large green leaf in the foreground.

leaves on the ground. three small and very thin branches of green leaves sit atop a layer of decaying brown leaves.

close up of 4 small brown mushrooms growing in the the side of a mossy tree.

view inside a hollow tree trunk. two very large polypore mushrooms sit on top of the upper ridge of the trunk. they are amber colored with a dark layer on top.

close up of bark on the side of an old apple tree. the bark is wavy and it looks like parts have been scratched away.

the inside of a hollow log. trees and sky are visible out the other end. long blades of grass stand in the forefront of the shot.

green moss growing on the side of a large apple tree with reddish-grey bark.

Two Autumn Days

The following pictures are from October 7. It was a rainy day and I was only outside briefly.

wild grapevine leaves that have mostly turned dark red. they are wet from the rain.

I visited the cows, who were resting when I arrived. Then some of them started getting up and grazing. They didn't seem to mind the rain.

the apple orchard pasture with the boys who are cows in the distance. some are grazing, some are still laying down and resting.

another shot of the apple orchard and cows. there's a cow boy in the foreground, his name is Leonardo, he is walking with his head held low.

large willow and alder trees by a grassy path. the willow leaves are starting to turn yellow.

wild looking trees in the plum orchard, still largely green.

The following 2 pictures are from October 8. It was a mild day, much warmer than the days before. I was busy for most of the day so I only went out in the evening.

the sky filled with dark grey clouds over the fallow field.

some tiny tan umbrella shaped mushrooms on the ground among fallen leaves, dry grass, and green grass.

It was a chilly day with some light rain on and off throughout. I put on my rain jacket and went for a walk to look for some autumn colours and watch the cows.

closeup of leaves on a wild grapevine. the are various shades of red and yellow, in front of a dark wooden wall

some light coloured gilled mushrooms growing close to the ground. their caps are wide and flattened. they are surrounded by grass and fallen leaves.

a single red clover flower head, with raindrops in it, in a meadow.

a mass of foliage of various bushes and trees blending together, the leaves are shades of reds and greens.

grey cloudy sky over the fields. the clouds are dark and fluffy and cover the entire sky.

I was standing by the pasture for a while, studying the cows to figure out how to tell them apart. They were busy grazing. Bambi was still calling out from time to time. Then I saw him hang out with Leonardo for a bit. None of them really came up to the fence today. Eventually it got too cold for me to just keep standing around.

boys who are cows, grazing in the apple orchard meadow. there are four of them in the picture and they are kind of far away.

another cow pic with some of them having come a bit closer. Bambi and Leonardo are to the left in the foreground.

Rain Clouds

It was a chilly day with some rain throughout. I was tired and only went out in the evening. Everything was a bit soggy.

sky over the fallow field in the late evening. it is almost entirely cloudy, with just a little gap inbetween, and a bit of cloud lit up by the setting sun behind all the grey.

closeup of a twig of a bush with round raindrops on it. its leaves are green and red.

raindrops sitting on a large long green leaf

The cow boys were already a good bit calmer than yesterday, and mostly busy grazing at the far ends of the orchards. Just one of the new babies was agitated and walking around a lot while calling out. I assume he was looking for his mom.

a boy who is a cow named Bambi. he is standing and looking at me, seen from the front, low perspective. he is very cute and baby.

I know these cows don't always look like it because I tend to photograph them from low angles, but he really is not very big. Cows have strong family bonds and young boys like him would stay around their moms much longer if they were allowed to. I named him Bambi.

Bambi the cow boy whole body side profile in front of apple trees and a grey sky.

the fallow field in the late evening. the sky is fully cloudy and dark grey. large dark oak trees are by the edge of the field.

I have names for the other four new boys picked out but I haven't assigned them yet since I didn't get a chance to watch them up close today.

It was wet and chilly throughout the whole day. I put on my rain jacket and rubber boots and went for a walk.

closeup of a twig on a shrub. the twig is reddish and the leaves are pale green with a reddish edge. it is covered in beady raindrops.

close up of the trunk of an old plum tree. it has some holes from insect and woodpecker activity, and there is bright green moss and some lichen growing on it.

a single wet ash tree at the edge between the fields and the stream. the leaves are feathered and green. the trunk has a prominent wound that looks a bit like a round eye. it is surrounded by grasses that have turned light brown.

In the fields, I saw the starlings flock in the distance again. I also saw a kestrel, three deer, and many slugs.

view by the corner of a field. there is a row of large trees along the far edge. along the close edge is a stream that's not visible, that is encompassed by brown and green grasses. the field itself is darker brown and without any plants. the sky is almost uniformly light grey from clouds and the distant trees are faded from the rain and fog.

It's not easy to get a clear photo of the bunnies eating because their ears move so much when they munch.

my bunny Hana eating a leaf. her ears are motion blurred.

my two bunnies Haru and Hana sticking their faces into a pile of leaves and carrot greens

It was raining on and off throughout the day. I was busy, so again I only made it outside in the evening when it was already getting dark.

the entrance archway of my garden. it is surrounded by a lot of wet greenery, with large cherry tree branches overy the path.

wet reddish branches and green leaves of dogwood shrubs, with some dark berries on them.

close up of a wet willow branch. the rainwater is beading up on the green leaves.

a brown slug eating deep pink flowers of an everlasting pea in the rain.

a large light greyish green fallen oak leaf on the ground that has water collecting in its curved surface, surrounded by smaller fallen leaves that are brown and yellow.

The rain got heavier the longer I was outside. It was good vibes.

a somewhat gloomy evening view from inside the plum orchard with the apple orchard in the distance. it is raining so things in the distance are fading into a grey fog. the trees are looking wild and unkempt.
